The Letter That Got Me a $250k Contract
In Omaha, there are 5 Google data centers nearby.
At one point, my sales and marketing efforts helped us acquire all of them as accounts.
I was told by one of the international sustainability directors at Google that out of all the small independent haulers, we had the most locations. Worldwide.
Also, worldwide, the largest Google data center happened to be near Omaha. Google SLN.
After winning one of the smaller sites, the idea was that if I could get Hillside into SLN, the rest would follow.
We had a problem, though. The general consensus was that we were too small to handle hauling all of their trash, recycling, and compostable material.
So when the contract negotiations came, I had to do something bold. And I did it with the cover letter.
A Hillside coworker of mine told me she thinks about this letter at least once a month. I call it the letter that got me a $250,000 annual contract.
Enjoy!
P.S. We got them to their goal :).
